This image I have chosen as one that honours my subject. I volunteered to take a series of portraits for a make up artist student and this photo was one of the first which i edited in lightroom. i very much enjoyed the editing side to photography and was impressed with my beginner skills that it opened doors to my photography world.

my aim in this image was to match the editing tand create the smudgy after party look that i wanted to achieve.i did this by lowering the saturation and smudging the make up on the models face.


the photo of Doug And Harry is a strong and powerful image. it creates a emotional relection to the viewers life. when looking at this image it does not look like a photograph but more of a painting. this technique that has been used in editing is quite exquisite because it is a rarely used and thefore stands out amongst others.


Amy's photo editor did not like amy's photo becuase i believe she had no emotional attatchment to the image and basucally looking at this image from a editors perspective. however Amy went on a journey and took in a unforgettable experience along with her while taking this portrait. she is also more apprieciative being comfortably invited into two personal lives which is a rare opportunity and becuase of this reason the memories are more cherishable and special creating a priceless photo.

the photograph conveys a strong story about these two brothers. its reflects upon the transition of age between youth and elderly but most importantly about brotherhood and strong relationship that Doug and Harry have maintianed thoughout thier jouney's in life together. this is shown by the room that they both share and also the intimacy of sleeping under eachothers portraits.

In regards to the two formal elements such as the portraits included in the one image reveals a emotioal reflection of life and age to the viewer when looking within the photo.

The Mumbai photo journalists the dead wood variety, those who have lost it, a mental block of creativity, end up manipulating pictures.
This is the quintessential Idd Hugging picture .
And they expect to compete with those across our shores.
Even the few good photo journos end up like this a lethargy , an apathy, their celebrity status gets them through, now mind you I am not talking about guys in other regions of photography who do am excellent body of work and make us amateurs proud..
I bitch because who do we emulate , inorder to become good in this field..its a sad day death of photo journalism and the blame at the photo editors desk.. not beyond.Girish Mistrys kids from his Shari Institute shoot better pictures .. more defiantly and differently too..my critisism is constructive but than you have the God given Freedom of expression to tell me "Go Fuck Off .."

Like a photo journalist who hurled these words at me when I politely told him to come up with something new ..I hold nothing against him personally he shoots what his photo editor wants and unlike a blogger he has to earn his living , luckily I moderate my own photos and work under no editorial constrains.

I shoot a poem and am happy it ends up as a picture..
